How does Drip Therapy Work?

IV Vitamin Therapy is a procedure that uses an intravenous drip to infuse essential vitamins, minerals, and amino acids directly into the body. The advantage of this is that higher levels of nutrients can often be introduced into the body than would be possible orally. The intravenous route allows nutrients to be 100% more bioavailable (readily available to the body) compared to the 15-20% bioavailability that the oral route provides.

Why should I come to Absolute Face and Body for my Drip Therapy?

At Absolute Face and Body Med Spa you will receive a luxurious experience combined with the experience and knowledge of our nurses who are passionate about a natural approach to healing and overall health optimization. We only employ nurses who have a strong nursing background with years of clinical experience. Customers are encouraged to relax, unwind, and feel at home with back massages, relaxing music, and water. However, if the customer is so inclined, they may also read, use cell phones, and/or laptops while receiving a Drip

What is the major advantage of Drip Therapy?

Many vitamin, mineral, and amino supplements are not well absorbed by the body when taken orally. For some people, barriers may exist in the gastrointestinal tract preventing adequate absorption. Administering nutrients via an injection or intravenously (IV) allows for much higher doses of these nutrients to be infused directly into the body.

How long does a single session last?

Drip Therapy sessions typically take 45 minutes. May be less or more based upon the nutrients selected in the Drip. New clients can expect a visit to be at least one hour – an extra 15 minutes is allotted for consultation and nursing assessment. A mini-drip or “Express Drip” will typically take 15-20 minutes and intramuscular injections (for existing clients) can take as little as 5 minutes.

What is the process involved in getting Drip Therapy?

Each client is asked to fill out a consent form and health history form. Vital signs are obtained, and clients are then handed a drip therapy menu. The nurse will then go over the client’s background, health history form, and goals to determine what cocktail best suits a client’s needs and cues up a provider/client relationship with a Nurse Practitioner on site (visit with Nurse Practitioner is complementary with IV/IM services).

How often should I get Drip Therapy?

How often, or at what intervals, a customer should get Drip therapy depends largely on the specific type of treatment they are getting. Each treatment is customized since each customer has individual needs. Weekly treatments are encouraged to get the levels of vitamins and nutrients in the bloodstream at optimal levels. A client may also come in twice a week, spaced a few days apart, if they are within the weekly max doses for the micronutrients administered.

For clients using Drip Therapy as part of a therapeutic management of symptoms of autoimmune disorders (i.e., fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis), it is typically encouraged for them to come in weekly for the first six weeks. Thereafter, they can come in once monthly for maintenance. This is with the understanding that they have consulted with their primary doctor.

Where on the customer is the Intramuscular (IM) Shot given?

Our shots are intramuscular shots, so it can be injected into the deltoid muscle of the upper arm if the shot they are getting has a small amount of vitamin such as a single-dose B12 injection. For shots with higher concentrations and volume of vitamins such as Lipo-C, our preferred site is the gluteal muscle – the bigger muscle allows for better absorption and tolerance of the injection itself. IM sites must be rotated each time.

Are our drips FDA approved?

FDA does not typically have a lot or as much oversight on supplements. You can ask a client asking this what their health and wellness goals/needs are. Sometimes these questions are curiosity to see if the IVs are safe. Explain our medical process and that we have a medical team at Absolute F & B (while other competitors usually do not). If they need help figuring out what is best for them, make suggestions based on our resources (Common Ailments).

How long will I feel the effects of the infusion?

Each of the micronutrients has a different half-life, so this answer will vary depending on which mixture is received. Additionally, the individual’s nutritional and hydration status could add variance to the timeframe. Micronutrient testing can help gauge exactly which micronutrients are lacking and which infusions are best suited to you for your specific needs.

How will I know if Drip Therapy is effective?

Each person’s reaction to a particular medicinal substance (natural or synthetic) is different. Difficulty to predict patient risk factors include fast versus slow metabolism, bioavailability, side effects, and cellular transport. This biochemical individuality can pose difficult barriers. In general, intravenous nutrient therapy has been widely accepted due to its exceptional patient outcomes. Immediately, most people report increased mental clarity and a general sense of well-being from the increase in oxygenation to the vital organs from the decreased blood viscosity.

Any recommendations on the best time to get Drip Therapy?

The intravenous delivery of vitamins allows for faster absorption and bioavailability of the nutrients hence, it is good to get Drip Therapy the same day when you need to recover either from fatigue, exhaustion, alcohol intake (hangover) or before an activity such as a routine workout, travel or before a night out. In general, we would recommend getting a drip one day before it is needed, especially if it is used for a strenuous activity such as a run or an athletic competition. This allows the body adequate time to metabolize and absorb all the nutrients as well as the kidneys to process all the fluids. Our clients typically report feeling relaxed immediately after a drip and get the “energy boost” the morning after.

Is there any reason I should NOT get a Drip?

In general, IV therapy can be beneficial for a wide variety of individuals. Our medical team, led by our nurse practitioners, set standard dosages that are good for the general public from ages 16 and up. In the case of clients with more specific medical needs, .

In the case of clients with more medical needs, we follow a protocol that we believe will enhance client safety. We work with your physician’s recommendations, whether or not they see Drip Therapy as fit to your situation. Very few of our ingredients have certain contraindications and our nurses will perform a physical and medical history assessment. We obtain vital signs such as blood pressure to see if your blood pressure is within parameters before we start any infusions.
