The Omnilux Difference

Unlike a number of competitor products, each Omnilux treatment head – revive2, blue and plus – contains only single wavelength LEDs specifically designed to deliver optimized intensities of light. Additionally, the LEDs are packed closely together to allow the maximum light and proven dosages to be delivered to the treatment area, eliminating zones of undertreatment common in competitive systems.

Many competitors offer treatment heads containing 2, 3 or even 4 different colored LEDs – and not closely packed. Most do not have clinical studies to support their efficacy, nor do they deliver the necessary dosages required for desired results.

Clinically proven wavelengths of monochromatic light stimulate specific cells within the body – resulting in reduction in wrinkles, hyper-pigmentation, general dyschromia of the skin, and acne lesions. Omnilux phototherapy has also been proven to stimulate blood flow and the penetration and activation of skincare products applied topically to the skin. Treatments:

1. Acne Vulgaris

Omnilux pioneered the combined use of 415nm (Omnilux blue™) and 633nm (Omnilux revive2™) as essential tools for the management of acne, delivering proven wavelengths, optimized intensities, and clinically validated output energy for superior clinical effectiveness. Omnilux treats mild to moderate and cystic acne through an anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory process. Omnilux’s clinical evidence demonstrates up to an 81% clearance of inflammatory lesions 12- weeks post therapy.

Acne vulgaris is an extremely common and distressing skin condition affecting over 85% of adolescents by the age of 24 years and up to 50% of adults over 25 years. The underlying pathology in acne is a multifactorial process involving:

  • Comedogenesis: blocked pilosebaceous follicles
  • Bacterial colonization of P. Acnes in the blocked follicles
  • Seborrhoea: increased sebum production
  • Inflammatory process caused by P. Acnes bacteria

P. Acnes bacteria produce the light-sensitive substances coproporphyrin III and protoporphyrin. The Omnilux™ system is designed to irradiate these substances with wavelengths of light specifically optimized to stimulate the porphyrins and induce bacterial death, thus eradicating the inflammatory effects of acne.

Clinical trials have demonstrated optimum acne clearance when Omnilux blue (415nm) light is combined with Omnilux revive2 (633nm) red light treatment. Omnilux revive2 light minimizes production of pro-inflammatory cytokines. This anti-inflammatory effect reduces the erythema associated with acne lesions and by reducing the inflammatory response, minimizes the eventual possibility of acne scarring. Red light therapy with Omnilux revive2 has also been clinically proven to stimulate fibroblasts, therefore enhancing collagen production resulting in healthier, rejuvenated skin surrounding the acne affected area – adding to the beneficial effects of light therapy in acne.

Aging is accompanied by a diminishing quantity of collagen in the upper layer of the skin, the dermis. The skin loses flexibility and its ability to retain moisture – therefore becoming drier and thinner as the body’s natural regeneration processes slow. Photoaging compounds these effects, since harmful UVA and UVB rays in sunlight produce enzymes that break down the skin’s supportive structure and prevent formation of new collagen. How it Works: Omnilux revive2 red light is absorbed in the cellular mitochondria and stimulates ATP production leading to increased cellular action potential and enhanced cell vitality. The 633nm light emitted is potently absorbed by fibroblasts, with a subsequent increase in the speed and efficiency of neo-collagen synthesis. Turnover of aged collagen and elastin fibers results from light stimulation of metalloproteinases (MMPs).

Omnilux plus 830nm light acts synergistically with Omnilux revive2 light to achieve optimum efficacy in photo rejuvenation. Omnilux plus is strongly absorbed within fibro-myocytes promoting alignment and increased tone in the newly produced collagen bundles. The composite effect leaves the skin fuller and tighter in appearance. 3. Wound Healing

Since the 1970’s, studies have shown that Low Level Light Therapy (LLLT) helps speed up the process of wound healing. Omnilux accelerates all three phases of the wound healing response: 1) the inflammatory phase, in which immune cells migrate to the wound, 2) the proliferative phase, resulting in increased production of fibroblasts and macrophages, and the 3) remodeling phase, in which collagen deposition occurs at the site of the wound and the cellular matrix is rebuilt.

Omnilux expedites the wound healing response by inducing a local release of cytokines, chemokines, and other biological response modifiers that reduce the time required for wound closure, and increase the strength of the wound. In addition, Omnilux light increases the production and activity of fibroblasts and macrophages, improves the mobility of leukocytes, promotes collagen formation, induces neovascularization and improves blood flow.

4. Adjunctive Treatments

Omnilux plus™ alternated with Omnilux revive2™ offers a powerful adjunctive tool when performing microdermabrasion, micro-needling, Botox™, fillers, laser resurfacing, peels, and other non-invasive procedures. Omnilux used before and after the procedure conditions the skin, accelerates healing, reduces downtime, and minimizes trauma and side effects such as post inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH). Using Omnilux significantly enhances the overall results of the primary procedure.

Used with Botox injection, Omnilux revive2 light treatment minimizes the possibility of bruising or swelling at the injection site and provides an increased longevity to the effects of the Botox. The light treatment provides the skin with supplementary vascular activity and results in a healthier, plumper skin appearance. Used with fillers, adjunctive Omnilux light treatments decrease the incidence of bruising and provide the additional benefits of enhanced overall skin rejuvenation.

Chemical peels can benefit a wide range of skin conditions and generally the concept of peeling is often regarded as a gradual program where the client will have between 2-6 peels, depending on the type and concentration of the peel. For all peels, Omnilux is an ideal adjunctive light therapy, which can be used before the peel to prepare the skin’s reparative cells or after the peel to enhance tissue regeneration, increase cell vitality and reduce downtime.

Laser resurfacing and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatments often produce, pain, swelling and other side effects.
